Library Update, Gala Announcement

Dear Friend and Supporter:

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Aquin Development Foundation (ADF), I would like to inform you that the owners of the land that was promised for the erection of the Public Library, have rescinded their offer, 4 years after the original offer was made.  This information was confirmed by Ms. Maryse Piverger by telephone speaking on behalf of the families.

During the last 4 years, ADF has invested countless number of volunteer hours working on the library: designing plans and developing a program.  ADF also paid for a topographical survey, clearing the site, etc…We even had an architectural model!  All these steps were taken because ADF understood that one last document was transiting to Haiti for final recording and complete title transfer to the organization.

ADF has recognized this as a big setback, but remains firmly committed to the construction of a public library for Aquin.  At our last meeting, the Executive Committee together with the Board of Directors  voted affirmatively and unanimously to acquire a new site.

While the library is an important project, ADF will continue to support other projects within its mission and to contribute to a better future for Aquin.    To that purpose, our yearly fund raising gathering is important in supporting that mission.

ADF would like to invite you and your family to its annual gala and dinner which will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 9:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Adria Hotel located at 220-33 Northern Boulevard, Bayside, New York 11361.

We hope for your timely arrival to this gathering of Aquinois and friends of Aquin.

Sincerely,

Jean Francois Pericles  President

Dear friends,

Haiti was terribly devastated by a major earthquake on January 12, 2010. Fortunately the city of Aquin was not severely affected.   However in Port-au-Prince and in other parts of the country,   we lost several Aquinois and friends of Aquin during this catastrophe.   Aquin Development Foundation, Inc is saddened by the loss and devastation caused by this disaster and wishes to express its heartfelt condolences to those who have lost family and friends.

The Executive Committee
